Eventually
the topic got around to Obama, and his being our president.

The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Obama is just a Post Turtle.”

Now not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked,

What’s a “Post Turtle?”

The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country
road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced
on top, that’s a post turtle.”

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor’s face so
he continued to explain. “You know he didn’t get up there by
himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to
do while he’s up there, he sure as heck ain’t goin’ anywhere,
and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there in
the first place.”

Folks who are being anesthetized by the lame stream media are generally not paying attention. Digging deep to find the truth is not likely a part of their repertory mosaic. However, more and more people are waking up. Why? It’s partially because the lies are becoming so frequent, one would have to be brain challenged not to catch at least a few of them. For example, do you remember when the tea party people were complaining that there were death panels in the proposed health care bill? Many liberals and many of their media puppets were proclaiming that there was no such thing as death panels in the health care bill. Then on Facebook, Sara Palen complained about the death panels and what happened? The powers that be (the Democrats) took out the “non-existent” death panels! It must have been such an embarrassment to remove something that they claimed didn’t exist to begin with. But it demonstrated that the lies are so frequent that the liars have hardly a moment of shame; they simply proceed to their next lie.

Americans-Are-Changing (to the tune of The Times They Are A Changing).

Thankfully, the Americans will have the final say. A big part of the garbage will be dumped in November. Unfortunately, some of those getting elected will also be corrupt once they get into office. But they will slowly fade from power.

What is the opposite of a tea party march? It’s when 14 bus loads of union thugs are bussed to someone’s front lawn to intimidate the neighborhood with bull horns. This happened in Maryland. The Maryland police refused to control the crowd. The DC police who escorted the mod to the neighborhood also refused to control the crowd. Whose front lawn was it? The property belonged to a Bank of America lawyer, who was not in the house. His 14-year-old son was inside and was scared out of his mind. If the tea party people had done such a thing it would have been front-page news for three weeks. But since it is the Lefties who are doing it, the lame stream media will just yawn and put the story on the back burner or off the stove completely. Fox News ran the story for a while to point out the discriminatory way in which the lame stream media reports on people who are protesting.

Things-Are-About-To-Change (to the tune of Battle Hymn of The Republic).

The Lefties in the United States would like so very much to replicate the tea party movement, but they can’t do it. The coffee parties didn’t work out. The union thug gatherings are not working out so good. Unlike the tea parties, the union thug gatherings do become violent at times. Last year, for example, the union thugs of SEIU beat a man, Kenneth Gladney, down to the ground and used the N word against him. If the tea party people had beaten a union thug to the ground, the Bolsheviks would be calling for a congressional investigation. It is certainly not a level playing field in congress. But that is about to change. Lots of the garbage is about to be taken out. Even though the health care albatross cannot be repealed, it will become un-funded by the Americans who get elected.

When you get to the point of thinking paperwork to be the main event, that is similar to going to a restaurant and eating the menu.

Across the nation, the Arizona immigration law is a personal insult to many people of Hispanic descent. The Los Angeles City Council, in order to make a political statement, voted to boycott the state of Arizona and Arizona-based business. In response to the Los Angeles boycott, the commissioner of Arizona’s electric and water utilities threatened to cut off the electricity supplied to the Los Angeles power grid by Arizona power plants.

Article Resource: Will Arizona cut power to L.A. over immigration law boycott?

Boycott Arizona spreads nationwide

The Arizona immigration law has encouraged other cities with large Hispanic populations to deprive the state of cash now, including San Francisco, San Diego and Oakland. In Seattle, not known as a center of Hispanic culture, the city council approved a similar boycott May 18. Many organizations across the nation have also canceled conventions in Arizona. Type “boycott Arizona” in Google and you get The National Council of La Raza homepage, inviting institutions nationwide to join the NCLR in their boycott of Arizona. The Los Angeles boycott, however, is the first so far to result in a game of tit for tat over a law that many believe encourages racial profiling and violates civil rights.

Depriving the Los Angeles power grid

Following the Los Angeles boycott, the Arizona Corporation Commission, which administrates the state’s electric and water utilities, raised the idea of pulling the plug on Los Angeles. CNNMoney.com reports that Arizona’s power plants supply electricity to 25 percent of the Los Angeles power grid. Arizona Corporation Commissioner Gary Pierce wrote in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa that “If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives power from Arizona-based generation. I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands.”

Los Angeles boycott adds up to millions

The Los Angeles City Council voted 13-1 to bar the city from conducting business with Arizona unless the Arizona immigration law, which will take effect in July, is repealed. The vote was followed an emotional council, as reported by MSNBC, during which numerous members stressed how their ancestors were U.S. immigrants. The stake isn’t exactly among small potatoes. Los Angeles has as much as $ 58 million in investments and contracts with Arizona. Most of the that money involves airport, port and energy service that lawfully cannot be influenced by the boycott. About $ 7.7 million remains in city contracts that could most likely be put into play. Among those contracts include helicopter services, waste management, taser guns, and engineering and surveillance equipment.

Arizona – will they really cut power to Los Angeles?

Will Arizona really cut power to Los Angeles? John LeSueur, a spokesman for Pierce, downplayed the threatening nature of the letter. He said the commission itself does not have the authority for Arizona to cut power to Los Angeles. “It’s not a threat,” he explained to CNNMoney.com. “It’s just pointing out the ramification of what L.A.’s threat would be on the boycott. If they carry out their threat to boycott Arizona, that includes 25 percent of their power.” Los Angeles, as noted by LeSueur, has partial ownership in two of Arizona’s power plants, which includes a 5.7 percent stake in the Palo Verde nuclear power plant and a 21 percent stake in the Navajo Generation Station on a Navajo reservation.

Hispanics could get the whip’s tip with the Arizona boycott

The economic impact of the Arizona immigration law could be substantial. Fox News reports that Phoenix officials say their city could lose up to $ 90 million in the next five years over the protests. The figure represents not just lost convention and hotel fees but other money tourists would otherwise spend in the city. In a twist of irony, a major portion of Arizona’s hospitality and service workforce is made up of Hispanics.

The recent Arizona immigration law has been getting a lot of attention, and many experts believe the next battleground for lawmakers may just be California immigration. According to Reuters, Latinos in California, many of which are illegal residents, are stepping forward to protest the Arizona law. Liberals consider tougher immigration laws to be a gateway to human rights violations, while conservatives stand fast in their position that illegal immigration has gone too far. Both groups, however, believe California may just be the next in line to crack down illegal immigrants.

Right from its backyard, California deals with immigration

Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, who live in San Francisco, are two California senators that support amnesty and welcome the flow of immigrants. Boxer has gone so far in the media as to say she’d be happy if illegal immigrants became legal via amnesty and came to live in her city. Of course any person with a sense for Real Estate prices knows that to support living in San Francisco, you will need to make more than illegal immigrant wages. Thus, take Boxer’s open-armed invitation with a grain of margarita salt. Issues on California immigration will most likely be among the big talks with the upcoming state elections.

California holes the highest population in the U.S., illegal immigrants or not

Because of the large illegal immigrant population, the stakes in California would be tremendously high if California immigration law comes into question. Members of the Latino community who previously avoided political involvement are making their voices heard. From the El Concilio community center in agricultural Stockton, Jose Rodriquez told Reuters that “It is a large number of young people, those under 30, who speak English but realize that it doesn’t matter that they speak English. It has to do with the color of their skin.”

However, as former G.W. Bush speechwriter David Frum points out, the letter of the Arizona immigration law specifically forbids stopping anyone on the mere basis of skin color. What remains to be seen, George Will argues in the Washington Post, is whether good police officers in Arizona can aid this “worthwhile experiment in federalism” by making properly nuanced judgments regarding immigration law enforcement. If the experiment should prove successful, the state of California may just decide to head in a similar direction.

A changing tide seen among conservatives

Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter, a San Diego County resident, has called the Arizona law “a fantastic starting point,” although it remains uncertain whether the upcoming California elections will take immigration as a major point of argument. The leading candidates in the California governor’s race, Democrat Jerry Brown and Republican Meg Whitman, agree that the action needs to be done in the federal government regarding the subject.

But losing Latino vote may just be the main concern among candidates. Will California follow suit if Arizona – which is 30 percent Hispanic by some estimates – gets a majority to agree on tough immigration law? According to the 2008 census, an estimated 36.6 percent of the state population was of Hispanic or Latino origin, but it is safe to guess that not all of the minority group will be politically active in the California election.

The UK election result is a hung parliament, as suspected. Though the term may avail itself to juvenile humor, it isn’t funny. The last hung parliament (as a result of a General Election) occurred in 1974, and had to be resolved by a special election eight months later. I’ll be giving a free brush up on what the terms mean, so you won’t have to give me any instant cash to do so. (You can if you want to though.)

The UK election elects a hung parliament

The UK election results have failed to establish an absolute majority in British Parliament, meaning they have a hung parliament. Unless something is done about it, Great Britain has a Parliament that can’t do anything. Oh, and it may bear mention that means they can’t, in essence, pick a Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer (Treasurer), or anything else. A hung parliament is a hamstrung government in Great Britain.

Welcome to Comparative World Governments 101

In short, whichever party wins the most seats in UK elections gets to form the government (Prime Minister and so forth). When there isn’t an absolute majority, that means that regardless of who actually got the most votes, they won’t be able to do much of anything because everyone else outnumbers them. If that happens, like it has now, the winning party can try to make it work with a minority government (that rarely works) a coalition government by making strategic agreements, or just have a new election.

What happened?

In the 2010 UK General Election (held every five years), the Conservative Party, headed by David Cameron, won more seats than the Labor Party and incumbent Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Labor dropped to 29.3% of Parliament seats, and Conservative boosted their stake to 36.1% of the seats. Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats bagged almost 23% of the seats. Though the Conservative Party holds more seats than the others, they both out number Conservative seats, so no absolute majority exists.

So how does the end of the beginning proceed?

Conservative leader David Cameron is offering to form a coalition with the Liberal Democrats, according to The Guardian. There will be conditions, but it’s a work in progress to create a new British Government.

Charlie Crist has dropped out of the Republican Party to run as an independent for the U.S. Senate. If anyone were really in a rush to get payday loans to fill his opponents’ coffers they already have, as no one was surprised. (Maybe they will?) Crist has the advantage of a long service record and greater recognition with the voting public in Florida.

Charlie Crist and the Republicans have broken up

Some Republicans are asking Charlie Crist give any campaign funds he previously received from the GOP back. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) made pleas in the press for Crist to return any funds from the PAC (Political Action Committee) that were given for his potential Senate campaign, and any requested funds back to donors, according to USA Today.

Running independent can be risky

Running as an independent can go several ways. Name recognition is the biggest asset Charlie Crist has, according to the New York Times. Floridians know him better than the other two candidates. His Republican opponent, Marco Rubio, has popularity among tea party types, but is thought to be a bit moderate for their taste. He also allegedly used party funds for personal expenses. (A tea party person misusing funds? That would never happen!)

Independents don’t always fare too well

Historically, independents don’t fare well. There are two current independent Senators, Bernie Sanders and Joe Liberman. There are only three independent governors ever (Jesse Ventura ran with a party and doesn’t count) and one President. (George Washington had no party affiliation.) Statistics aren’t on the side of independents. However, branding does – and that’s what Charlie Crist has. This will get interesting.

A Financial Reform Bill summary is due to be debated in the Senate in just a few days. For a clearer view of the Financial Reform Bill summary that will control everything from a payday lender to the largest banks, a financial reform bill summary of both HR 4173, which are the House bill that was passed last December and S 3271, will be debated this week. Keep in mind that this Financial Reform Bill summary could change during reconciliation, though the broad strokes will likely remain the same. This article covers House Bill HR 4173.

For the complete Financial Reform summary of the Senate bill, see Part Two.

The Financial Reform Bill Summary on HR 4173

HR 4173 is the House of Representatives Financial Reform Bill. This financial reform bill was first initiated by the House Financial Services Committee and is known widely as the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. A full text of HR 4173 is available in PDF form on the U.S. House of Representatives website.

Financial Reform Bill HR 4173 summary touches on Consumer Protections

On opening, a Consumer Financial Protection Agency is positioned to be a separate Federal agency focused mainly on decoding, ensuring, and regulating the safety of U.S. financial product consumers. The day-to-day functionality of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency might include creating disclosure standards, working for consumer education about personal loan companies, and examining the details of new financial products.

Anti-predatory lending laws and mortgage reform would also be included. The traditional standard for borrowers to repay the loans they are sold would be instituted. The role of credit rating agencies would also be addressed, and credit rating agencies would be given some liability for their ratings.

HR 4173 Financial Reform Bill summary | Stability and Investing

The Financial Stability Council, as an “inter agency council,” would be responsible for identifying what financial firms are especially risky. Given stronger investor-protection powers are the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Financial Reform Bill HR 4173 Summary on ‘Too Big to Fail’ firms

Taxpayer money will no longer be given to firms that are considered “Too Big To Fail” to keep afloat. Instead, a system for dismantling financial businesses would be created by the Financial Reform Bill if or when they start to fail. Basically, there will be no more bailouts for big companies.

Summary of HR 4173 covers Investors Say on Pay

HR 4173 would give shareholders of a company a “say on pay” of the executives of a company. While the vote would only be advisory, regulators are also given the ability to ban “inappropriate or imprudently risky” pay packages. In other words, no more executives getting paid millions for running their companies into the ground.

HR 4173 Summary covering derivatives

The “derivatives” market, for the very first time, would be regulated. A product developed from another product is a financial derivative. For example, the “mortgage-backed securities” were a financial product derived from residential mortgages. Any “derivative” product with “substantial risk” would be monitored.

Financial reform bill summary | Private Pools Investing Money

Currently, businesses – Hedge funds and private equity firms – that are in the business of investing with private money are not being monitored. The Financial Stability Council, under HR 4173, would examine any risk from a “private pool of capital,” a group of people that pool their money to invest it.

Financial reform bill HR 4173 | Office of Insurance

Finally, the Financial Reform Bill HR 4173 would create a unified insurance regulatory agency. Rather than answering to multiple sets of rules and regulations, insurance companies would be monitored, regulated and reported by a single Office of Insurance.

This is a summary of HR 4173, the Financial Reform Bill that passed the House of Representative.

Finally – the U.S. Senate is scheduled to debate a Financial Reform Bill sometime during the upcoming two weeks. In December, the House of Representatives passed HR 4173 and now Senate will be taking up the matter soon (see the full Financial Reform Bill Summary in Part 1 of this series).

The Senate Financial Reform Bill Summary differs in some major ways from the House bill, and before any of the Financial Reform Bill summaries become law, they must be reconciled, approved again, and signed by the President. So exactly how different is the Financial Reform Bill Summary to providing same day cash loans to financial companies from the House bill, and what will the final Financial Reform Bill most likely include?

Financial Reform Bill Summary on S 3271

S 3271, better known as the Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010, is currently in committee debate. Both the Senate Banking Committee and Senate Agriculture Committee (yes, agriculture) have the bill under debate right now, and when those bills emerge they must be melded. To meld the two committee bills, Harry Reid is expected to offer a compromise of some kind soon. If the amended version of S 3271 is approved by the Senate, the bill must be reconciled with HR 4173 before it becomes law.

HR 4173 similar to S 3271 Financial Reform Bill Summary

Although the House and Senate Financial Reform Bill are widely different, there are some similarities. Both financial reform bills ask Hedge funds and Private equity firms to register with the government and submit to oversight. Both bills give the Securities and Exchange Commission new authority, including regulatory powers. In both bills, shareholders are also given a non-binding advisory vote on executive compensation. Both financial reform bills also create a council to monitor financial risk in the economy. The government would also be able to seize and disassemble large failing companies, though the details of how are different.

S 3271 Summary covers Financial Reform Bill Consumer Protections

Mostly built into the Federal Reserve are the consumer protections in S 3271. On anything from payday loans no fax to credit cards and mortgages, a division within the Federal Reserve would be charged with writing and enforcing new rules about financial products.

Bank regulation on the Financial Reform Bill Summary

In addition to being held responsible for consumer protection, the Federal Reserve would also oversee any bank that has more than $ 50 billion in assets; this includes “non-bank lenders” – like mortgage companies. Federal Reserve regulators would be given the ability to force a bank to either reduce or stop risky financial transactions.

Financial Reform Bill S 3271 Summary on companies Too Big To Fail

While both the House and Senate bills have a provision allowing the government to break up failing financial companies, the Senate bill includes a funding provision. Large financial companies would be required to pay into a $ 50 billion FDIC-like fund that would finance the dissolution of failing firms.

S 3271 Financial Reform Bill | Derivative Regulation

The Senate bill aims to regulate derivative products, which is much like the House bill. The debate right now is on how derivatives will be subjected to oversight, and most likely the original writing of the bill will be changed with last-minute political maneuvering.

Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010 – this is a summary of the Senate bill 3271. If this bill passes the Senate, it must be reconciled with HR 4173, Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. In the end, the Financial Reform Bill Summary will most likely include the major provisions of both of these bills, though the details of regulation and financial reform could differ greatly.

Clinton Christian School. Player Mmorpgs are turning out to be increasingly more sexual in character and additional and a lot more violent each 12 months. This has prompted “Ratings” on movie games and many teams to decry the Industry. We now have a lot of lobby organizations now getting power in Washington DC and all over the nation to put a end to violence and sex in movie video games.

When we see Hilary Clinton call to get a sanctioning of Film Games and asks the FTC – Federal Trade Commission to investigate makers of the Xbox’s hottest game titles, I fully grasp the reasoning along with the knee jerk reaction towards the difficulty and the way politicians follow the polls and how she could possibly get some brownie things through the Christian Right side of issues, hunting much like the “Good Gal” and that creates sense for her politically.

Northwest Christian School. Yet, it would appear far better with the cost-free market to generate “better and much more moral games” and defeat the bad by selling a lot more video games or in one more venue just like the Television. But to complete so the gamming corporations ought to be certain how the political teams who decry sex and violence will acquire their items. Will they or have these groups worked so tough to attack the video clip gamming sector that the Marketplace itself is now closing its door to these groups?

Is the Sector dividing between very good video game titles and alluring violent kinds? Will each and every sector continue underneath various programs, such as Xbox, Television, Eyebud iPod or Sony PS? Within the end in the event the dollars is pouring in for your action genre then the customer has voted towards these “Mothers In opposition to Attractive Violence in Film Games” and in case the client would like the nicer venue, then they are going to vote for any more politically appropriate or Christian Correct House Schooling Venue. This is definitely an issue in 2006.

Valor Christian School. Within the early 2000′s, he was received into total communion with the Catholic Church right after cautious research from the Catholic Catechism along with the Bible. He believes Catholics and Bible believing Protestants should build on what they’ve in common rather than looking at what is various.
